The problem it fixes
A parcel stalls at a depot and nobody on your side sees it. The first sign is a customer asking where their order is. It adds no tracking page for your customers.
- 01
You find out first
Once a day the app reads your shipped orders from the last 60 days and judges each shipment on its own. If one is stuck, you get an email naming the order, the carrier and the tracking number.
Daily check of shipped orders (app/lib/check.ts, app/lib/classify.ts)
- 02
You decide what counts as quiet
A shipment with no new carrier update for more than 4 days is flagged by default. Set it anywhere from 2 to 14 days, and choose the hour of the check in your shop's time.
Settings: Days without a carrier update, Check at (shop time)
- 03
A carrier-reported problem counts straight away
If the carrier itself says a parcel is delayed, a delivery was attempted, delivery failed or it was not delivered, the shipment is flagged without waiting for the days to pass.
Carrier statuses Delayed, Delivery attempted, Delivery failed, Not delivered
- 04
One email per problem, not one a day
You are emailed when a shipment newly gets stuck and once more when it is fixed. A shipment that stays stuck is never re-sent. It stays on the list in the app until it moves. No change, no email.
Emails only new and fixed shipments; stuck list in the app, longest stuck first
- 05
No guessing when there is no data
A shipment with no carrier scans in Shopify is shown as no data, never as stuck. If most of your open shipments have none, the app says so plainly instead of reporting all clear.
No-data bucket and the notice on Home when more than half have no scans
How the shipping delay alerts work
- 1
Choose who gets the alert
In Settings, type the email address under Send alerts to. The app never fills it in for you.
- 2
Set the hour and the days
Pick Check at (shop time) and Days without a carrier update, from 2 to 14. The default is 4 days.
- 3
Send a test email
On Home, send a test email to see the real thing now. It lists everything stuck right now and does not use up your real alert.
- 4
Read the list
Home shows Stuck shipments with the order, carrier and tracking number, what we see, and a flag. Check history lists the last 30 checks.
What it watches for you
Each parcel is judged on its own
An order with two parcels is checked as two shipments. One delivered parcel never hides a second one that has stalled.
A shipment with no scans is never called stuck
Without a scan there is nothing to measure. These show under Shipments with no scan data and are left out of the stuck list.
A store too big to check fully says so
Above 1,500 shipped orders in the last 60 days the check fails with a clear error. It never reports a part-checked store as all clear.
Limits and your data
- How far back orders go
- Orders from the last 60 days
- Orders per check
- Up to 1,500 shipped orders
- Days without an update
- 2 to 14 days, default 4
- Shopify access
- read_orders only; writes nothing
- Customer details
- Never read or stored
- What the email carries
- Order number, carrier, tracking number
- Lines in one email
- Up to 25, then a count
- Check history kept
- Counts only, for 90 days
- If you uninstall
- Daily checks stop at once and the stuck list, settings and check history we hold for your shop are deleted. Shopify's shop redact request, about 48 hours later, clears any remaining shop records.
- The Free plan
- The daily check of shipped orders from the last 60 days, the email when a shipment gets stuck or is fixed, the stuck list and check history in the app, a test email, and email support.A paid plan is planned for tagging stuck orders in Shopify. Free stays.
Is it for you?
Tell me which of my shipped orders have stopped moving, so I can contact the carrier before the customer emails me.
A good fit if
- Stores that ship with carriers whose updates reach Shopify and want an early warning.
- Merchants who would rather fix a delay than answer 'where is my order?'.
- Stores that already use a tracking app and want a second pair of eyes on stalled parcels.
Not the right app if
- Stores that want a tracking page, or emails and texts sent to their customers. This app does neither.
- Stores whose carriers send no updates to Shopify. Their shipments show as no data.
- Stores with more than 1,500 shipped orders in 60 days. The check stops with an error.
Why not do it by hand
Looking through carrier sites by hand for every shipped order does not happen on a busy week, so stuck parcels surface as customer emails. Delayed Ship Alerts reads the carrier updates Shopify already holds and tells you only when something has changed.
Why it will be worth paying for
A paid plan is planned for the follow-up work around a stuck parcel, such as tagging orders in Shopify. Free stays, and the daily check and the email are part of it.

Changelog
First release, in Shopify App Review
New
- Once a day it checks the orders you shipped in the last 60 days, using the carrier updates already on each order.
- An email when a parcel has had no carrier update for the number of days you set, or the carrier reports it delayed, attempted or failed.
- Emailed once when a shipment gets stuck and once when it is fixed. No change, no email.
- A list in the app of stuck shipments with carrier, tracking number and order link, and a history of every check.
- Shipments with no carrier scans yet are shown as no data, never as stuck.
Questions before you install
Does it email or message my customers?
No. The only email goes to the address you type in Settings. The app does not contact your customers and does not change anything in your store or in Shopify.
What does it see of my customers?
No names, email addresses, phone numbers or addresses. It reads the order number, the carrier, the tracking number, the shipment status and the latest carrier update. It holds those only while a shipment is flagged.
Will the shipping delay alerts work with my carrier?
It can only judge shipments that have carrier updates in Shopify, and whether yours do depends on the carrier. A shipment with none is shown as no data and never flagged. If most have none, the app tells you.
